Benefits and Risks of Alcohol Use in Adults

Alcohol has benefits and risks depending on the pattern and the amount of use. Side factors include age, gender, co-morbidities, and the types and quantities of medication being used. This lecture will discuss recommended drinking limits and the evidence for alcohol's benefits and risks, with a focus on older adults.
Instructor: Alison Moore is Professor and Chief of the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. She is a nationally recognized physician, scientist, and educator whose research focuses on alcohol and other substance abuse in older adults. Before coming to UCSD, Moore was chief-at-large of the Division of Geriatrics at UCLA Health and a professor in the Departments of Medicine and Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
